    What if my leak isn't at the service port?

    The service port is one of the most common places a slow A/C leak starts, so the odds are good, but they aren't 100%. If you install FreezeCap™ and your system still loses charge, the leak is somewhere else. You can still return it within 30 days for a full refund, but in many cases, customers choose to keep it anyway, since it helps eliminate the most common failure point and can prevent repeat leaks down the line. Either way, you’ve ruled out the cheapest fix and potentially avoided a $150 to $250 shop diagnostic fee in the process.

    5-minute self-test: spray soapy water on the low-side service port with the system pressurized. Slow bubbles forming at the rim or under the cap = port leak.

    Is this just a fancy plastic cap?

    No. The original cap that came with your vehicle acts more like a dust cover. FreezeCap™ uses patented technology to lock over the service port and form a secondary seal across the port opening. Refrigerant escaping past a worn Schrader valve stays trapped between the valve and the cap, held in the system instead of bleeding to atmosphere.     Why not just replace the Schrader valve?

    Fair question. If the valve is the only problem and the port is healthy, a new valve can do the job. Start there.

    But on an older, high-mileage vehicle there's a catch: the port threads are soft metal. Pulling the old valve out and screwing a new one in can chew up those threads even more, and make the leak worse instead of better. That's where a lot of people get stuck. They swap the valve, and it still leaks.

    FreezeCap™ takes another path. It seals at the outer rim of the port, so it works around a worn valve and worn threads instead of fighting them. Your A/C system is never opened. FreezeCap™ is built for the leak that is left after a fresh valve still won't hold.

    What about a cheap valve-core tool that swaps the core without losing refrigerant?

    If your leak is the valve core, that tool is the cheaper fix, so go use it. We mean that.

    But a new core only helps if the core was the problem. On a lot of older vehicles the leak isn't the core at all. It's the soft aluminum threads at the port, which strip and wear down over time. Put a brand-new core in and it can still leak, because the worn threads still can't hold a seal.

    FreezeCap™ doesn't try to fix those threads. It makes a second seal against the rim, the flat outer face of the port, so refrigerant slipping past a bad core or worn threads can't escape. Simple rule: if the core is your leak, the tool wins. If the core has already been swapped and it still leaks, that's FreezeCap™.

    Will this void my warranty?

    FreezeCap™ installs on the outside of the sealed refrigerant system. It never opens it. That's mechanically equivalent to swapping the dust cap your vehicle shipped with. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer can't void your warranty for using an aftermarket part unless they can prove it caused the failure. FreezeCap™ doesn't touch any sealed component, so there's nothing to point to.

    Why hasn't my mechanic mentioned this?

    Shops are equipped and paid for full-system repair: vacuum, recharge, parts, labor. A targeted DIY fix isn't part of that workflow. FreezeCap™ is also recently patented, so it isn't yet in standard shop parts catalogs. None of that is a knock on shops; it's just a different repair model.

    Seal Your Vehicle AC System

    Perfect Solution!

    I had a high pressure service port that was leaking due to a defective Schrader valve. My “no gas loss” Schrader valve removal tool would not work due to a foreign object lodged in the valve. I was preparing to perform a refrigerant recovery, evacuation and full recharge when quite by accident I can upon an ad for the Freezecap. “Yeah, that might work” said I, and proceeded to order a set.
